A Wee Church

We awoke on Boxing Day to a cold and frosty morning. A 3 hour mountain bike was planned too. I wrapped up well with such swaddling bike clothing that resulted in me being a big baby. I have an ice phobia and dislike slippery ground too.....not ideal for a mountain bike ride. Fortunately, after peddling along like a fairy for the 1st half hour, we saw a child no more than 4 years old riding much faster in the opposite direction. I manned up.

After that the ride was more enjoyable with our stop at the church of St Mary's, Lead being memorable. When Rosemary first suggested stopping, I turned my nose up thinking we would be viewing a simple ruin. However, on closer inspection this little church in the middle of a field was anything but. The door was unlocked and we entered. There were a few rows of ancient pews, a simple alter and not much else. I've been to Norte Dame and even graduated in Canterbury Cathedral but I liked this place more.
