The Avon at Avoncliffe
The centre of Bradford-on-Avon was flooded on Christmas Eve, after the extremely heavy rain during the overnight storm. The town bridge over the River Avon couldn't be reopened until several lorry-loads of debris had been removed.
We went over to Bradford today for a walk along the canal to Avoncliffe, one of our favourite local canal walks. Some of the fields next to the river were still flooded and water levels were fairly high - in fact, the garden of the pub at Avoncliffe is currently in the river, as you can see from the furniture in the bottom right of this photo! The large building on the other side of the river is a mill that's currently being restored and you can just see the weir behind the trees.
