Sunpowered evening lights
Mr H was up early, and although very quiet his being awake woke me. So I joined him as the last of the overnight storm faded out. Such a strong wind from the north east drove rain under the eaves and caused a minor inflow of water. Hoping that it was just the strength of the wind; I did establish that the gutters are clear.
Even after the rain stopped the day remained grey until mid afternoon, by which time the lads were about to head home with their mother. I had earlier had a walk on the beach with Young L to see what birds we could find, and I got a reasonable photo of some terns (not sure exactly which sort of tern, and probably Caspian Terns) competing with anglers for the fish in the bay.
A couple of days ago, daughter J had taken an iPhone photo of the lights outside the beach house, and I had decided to make them the subject of a blip sooner rather than later. Done today.
All the light in this photo is from solar energy. The bollard type lights are set to show garden beds and there are others to show the way when it gets very dark. As can be seen, this photo was taken when there was still quite a lot of sunlight available to lighten the deck and surrounds (even though well past official sunset).
Wound through the lower parts of a pohutukawa tree, and also around one end of the garden pergola, are two strings of solar powered mini lanterns.
In the background the eye of faith will pick out a pink tinge to the sky, reflecting the sun's light from the west (behind where I was standing to take the photo. A number of later photos were unsatisfactory, and so this is the one I chose.
