Vacation Day

We went to Seattle for day. That's 1.5 hours driving + 30 minutes on the ferry. It was fun to get out of town for the day. We wore the kids (and me) out. We walked (straight up I think--Seattle is a hilly city) to the public library. Girly and I hadn't seen it before. It's an interesting architectural statement. I found it to be cold and not to human scale but Mr. Odd Days thinks it's very appropriate for such an urban setting. The photo is a reflection of us standing on the sideway looking up at the outside of the building. From there we walked up to Westlake Center, had lunch, rode the monorail to the Seattle Center, rode a 1.5 hour Duck tour (tour of Seattle in a modified amphibious vehicle), went to the top of the Space Needle, rode the monorail back to Westlake Center, hit 3 stores, and walked briskly back to the ferry terminal. We also saw 12 Starbucks within blocks of each other. Seattle is the home of Starbucks after all. Most were closed for the weekend. It seemed as though there were fewer of them of them than the last time we were in that part of Seattle. Last time you'd see them across the street from each other! But they closed several of them. And now you might have to walk 4 blocks from one to the other. :) It was a lovely but windy day. Good to be home and warm. I think we can now declare our summer over. Night to all.
