An Englishman's Home . . .
. . . is no more.
The sigh of History rises over ruins, not over landscapes . . .(Derek Walcott).
This was once my home.
I lived here for 23 years, more or less. It was part of Bodington Hall, a University of Leeds student hall of residence. During that time in this place I met thousands of people from all parts of the world and my life was enriched by doing so. I lived here when I did my Masters degree. From here I twice went to war and returned safely.
So many memories.
Soon even these ruins will no longer exist, they will be part of 'an exciting development of 4-and 5-bedroom homes'; even the name will change.
And I will never return.
