Shots 3 Wellie Boots 1

Cracking game of football this afternoon. Fairly even first half against a pile of playground bully's from Kent which I think the Shots were edging when we played the ball along the ground. Took us too long to realise that lumping in high balls against a defence that bore more than a passing resemblance to a basketball team wasn't going to work. When we kept the ball on the deck and ran at them, we looked much stronger.

This is Shots winger Jordon Roberts launching a shot on the Welling goal with ex-Shot Doug Bergqvist coming in with a flying tackle that felled our man, but fortunately didn't cause an injury.

Beginning of the second half we conceded a weak goal which went through our goalie and the defender standing on the line. Should have kept it out as it didn't look particularly threatening. But mid way through the second half, we started running at their defenders, and they didn't know how to deal with us. The pressure began to build, and Lump number 14 (Blaine Hudson) decided to push our player over in their penalty area right in front of the referee. Cue Brett Williams to score his 15th league goal of the season and move to the top of the Conference goal-scoring charts, and 25 minutes against ten men with their biggest defender off the pitch. Welling fell to pieces and launched foul after foul. They picked up another 5 bookings, and we did well not to be intimidated by their agricultural tactics. Aiden O'Brien scored two more to take his tally to 6 goals in 6 games, and the Shots move ever forward. Up to 19th now, and confident of catching up with Lincoln in the next game or two.

Come on The Shots :-)
