Entrance, Burrell Collection, Pollok Park, Glasgow
A 16th century stone arch, built into a modern red sandstone gable end, forms the entrance to this wonderful collection.
Sir William and Lady Burrell gifted over 9,000 artworks to the City of Glasgow in 1944. In 1983, his treasures were brought to this new, purpose-built location. Stained glass; recreated rooms from his home, Hutton Castle; furniture; weapons; armour; carpets; Impressionist paintings; architectural features built into the structure make this a unique place to visit.
The Burrell is one of my favourite places. I blipped one of the exhibits, the Warwick Vase earlier this year.
Back blipped last night's brilliant 21st Ceilidh .
