Food for a rainy day
It is interesting to be able to shoot something dynamic. And on a lazy holiday (Mahatma Gandhi's birthday), food is as dynamic as things get. S made some delicious pakodas (onions, potatoes and egg coated with gram flour and deep fried). I am generally not fond of deep fried things, but this was most enjoyable. Especially with a warm mug of coffee on a rainy afternoon.
Loads of House this weekend. And as always, can't seem to get enough of it!
There's been a lot of rain in the state. Too much for this time of the year. Floods have disrupted life in the rural areas. Crops have suffered badly. Trains have had to be halted. Long distance buses have been cancelled. Flights have suffered too. Villagers have been rendered homeless. There have been several death too.
But here I am, sitting under the gentle showers of the city, protected and warm, thinking that rain has somehow softened the city. Making it seem less like a "concrete jungle" as it normally does. Rain gives the illusion of it being close to nature, gives it a semblance of character, an identity. Makes it seem less like a machine, but like someone who has a heart. It eases my transition. This is all about me being selfish.
