The Mill....

My grandmother was a Mill Girl. She started in J and D McGeorge of Dumfries, worked for a while in Gibson's little mill at the foot of Maxwell Street where she lived, and finally for the Wolseley factory in Dumfries. Her brothers were Engineers in the Mills too.

This is the gauge of a glove press that also started its life in McGeorge's Mill. It's 150 years old. At some point in its history, it found its way here to the Borders....
