Horsdean Hips

It's been difficult today, as the depression that has been closing in over the last few days finally hit with a vengeance. It was a struggle to get out of the house for a walk but, as always, worth it; and taking photos is, of course, therapy (which is one reason why I blip).

So it was a short walk up to Horsdean and back, and by the path a patch of scrubby abandoned land that even in the middle of winter was surprisingly colourful; red berries, orange lichens (in most of the woods where I walk there are no lichens - which I've always attributed to the traffic, but here a few yards from the thundering traffic of the Brighton bypass lichens thrive).
