Potter wasp

The Potter wasp is a medium sized friendly little bug of 1.5 cm in length. They have the potential to deliver painful stings, but are not aggressive and rarely attack humans.

They are very common and found throughout most of Australia. Potter wasps live in suburban gardens, as well as in woodlands.

When it comes Feeding and Diet the Potter wasp is solitary, and feeds on flower nectar and hunt caterpillars to feed their larvae.

These wasps make mud nests for their eggs and larvae or use abandoned burrows of other insects. They stock the nests with caterpillars and other grubs, which they seal in with mud. These are eaten alive by the wasp larvae.
