Festival of light
Hope you are all having a wonderful time today! And traveling safely and smoothly!
Amazing how much fits in a day, I spent 6 hours traveling (return train trip) and 4 hours with my family, 1 hour in Amsterdam for a quick look at the lights of the Light festival there, and it's still only 8 pm.
Whilst in Amsterdam I saw the doors were open to one of my favourite churches by one of the canals and I slipped in. It was packed and so beautiful. Just then one of the priests started singing a dutch rendition of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", I was just in time to join in the chorus, and then I slipped out again. This was the first of the light displays I came across, by the Waterloo Plein - done in style! (it's famous for it's flea market). Amsterdam lights are always gorgeous because of the reflections in the canals, and I actually love looking into people's windows best of all. To see the interiors of the old canal houses, the bookshelves across the door, the wooden staircases in the living rooms, mezzanine floors. More blips needed for that! Thank you Old Rebel :-)
