yule?

Conducting research for today's blip I looked up "Yule" and "Yuletide" in my Turkish dictionary. Yucetide = Noel = Christmas. However, as with many "Christmas" related words and traditions, there is no link to Christ at all. Yule is originally, and for many today a Pagan religious festival.

Got me thinking how often my life, even as a committed Christian, is lived independent of Christ's loving rule. May the coming year, by God's grace, become more Christ-centred for us all.
