Christmas .....
..... eve.
Just your typical Christmas eve, trees lit by twinkling lights and the sound of feet on roof tops. I went to bed just before midnight on the 23rd and about 10 minutes later was woken by a tree crashing on to the roof of the house over the road from my parents' house. For the next three hours there were two fire engines and a crane outside with lights flashing, engines running and warning sirens going off intermittently. I took a quick video of the tree eventually being pulled of the neighbour's roof just after 3am.
After a couple hours sleep I gave my brother a hand lifting fence panels back in to place that had been blown out by the strong winds, then there was a call from the hospital to confirm that they would be letting dad home today so we spent the next couple of hours picking up various bits of equipment dad will need downstairs ( he won't be able to get upstairs to the bathroom for a while ) from a medical supplier and setting up a bed downstairs.
This evening we picked dad up from hospital, there was a wheelchair to the car, much shuffling and hopping to get him in to the car, a steady drive home then more shuffling and hopping with a frame to get him to the front door and a lot of lifting and hopping to get him up the three stairs and finally in to the house .....
..... 5 minutes after he had sat down there was a call from the hospital saying they needed him back in urgently as there was a problem with one of his blood tests ( we eventually found out it was a blood test taken three days before ), so the whole ordeal was repeated in reverse.
After 3 hours in the hospital and numerous blood tests ( which all came back normal ) they said he could go back home again. It's been a long day, but the important thing is that dad is home. I hope you are all getting to spend Christmas with the ones you love, so today's blip is .....
..... Christmas eve.
