Late Day Blues

I was working today, the city was like a ghost town, very few people moving about, offices in darkness and rain sweeping the streets, the storm was coming...

You will have guessed by now after yesterday that I did survive to Blip another day and I am very glad I did. I sat in the car and watched the rain on the windscreen this morning listening to songs shuffling through my iPod, nothing festive until the beautiful tones of Kate Rusby who recorded folk versions of traditional carols, very different to the choristers we are usually subjected to booming these out with gusto, here gentle, passionate, sung with a feeling that moves the listener.

My phone flashed into life, my friends name on the screen and an instant smile brightens my morning. Work too for them although only for a few hours. We chatted for a short time before it was time for our respective jobs to consume us.

The rain cleared and the wind dropped for a little while but the forecast was pretty true to form and the weather again defaulted to storm force winds and driving rain, not festive at all but never mind!! The roads were quiet this evening very few people it seemed had ventured out, maybe the weather maybe just no need to go anywhere and so my journey home was uneventful, music playing to keep me company.

I hope you enjoy today's shot, I have strayed back to familiar territory and away form portraits as I still am not any good at them it seems, maybe someday!!!!
