The Morning After . . .

Last night, the TV news told us to expect a massive ice storm, power cuts and Armageddon. We laughed. An hour later the lights went out. They're still out. And this is why. The rain fell, became ice as soon as it landed. Tree branches, weighed down with the ice snapped. crashing through overhead power and telephone cables on the way to the ground. We live in an old area full of trees and lots of wires. Like a war zone without a war, but with panic and misery . . .
