A Christmas Tui
Most mornings I wake up to the lovely sound of Tui's singing. Our flax bush is in flower and they love poking their head into the flower to get the nectar. By the time I get my camera, change the lens and get out to the flax bush, the Tui's have taken off.
This morning there were two Tui's in the bush. Once again I sneaked outside with my camera, and managed to catch this one, with its beak full of yellow pollen. Not long after taking this photo, it flew away.
Farmerboy has just left to go and milk the cows, and the boys have gone to help him. That leaves me to get lunch organised. On the menu today is roast chicken, roast kumera, pumpkin and parsnip, freshly dug potatoes and carrots and baby peas, along with lashings of gravy. And if that isn't enough, we have pavlova, chocolate mousse ice cream cake, trifle and fresh raspberries and strawberries for dessert. Phew! After all that we will have to have a snooze this afternoon!
So, from Farmergirl's family to yours, wherever you are in the world, have a very merry and enjoyable Christmas!
