The New Bridge

In a lull in today's storm we took the opportunity to drive down to Colintraive and then up the Glen to drop off a few things with friends.

I had glimpsed work going on on this new bridge over the River Ruel from the main road (which is just beyond the digger) as I passed over the past few weeks, but driving the long way into the Glendaruel Caravan Park, via the Lucknow Gates, gave me the opportunity to see in detail what is being done to replace a crossing which will be used not just for accessing the Park and the Home Farm Cottages but which will also help with the extraction of timber from the west side of the glen.

The job has turned out to be harder and longer than expected, largely because of the very bad weather during December.

Certainly it is a big undertaking.
