Combat has no regard for Christmas

This parchment has been in my possession for a number of years. I own it with pride, as despite multiple internet searches, I am yet to find a duplicate.
It's the Honourable Discharge Papers of my Great Grandad from WWI, signed by King George.
It perhaps might have been the best Christmas gift Gunner Edward Smith received.
It is 95 years old today.
