A 6am start time the morning after a drive down from Edinburgh to London maybe wasn't the best preparation for the day, but when the day is the Goodwood Revival it didn't bother me too much. We'd arrived at friends Tim and Fenella (Kiwis we met on the Italian Job Rally three years ago) last night, giving a bit of time with them, Isla their just-over-a-year-old daughter and Mannie and Chelsea the cats.

So today we headed to Goodwood with them for some retro enjoyment: Tim and I dressed in RAF uniforms, with Mel and Fenella (and Isla) in glorious 50s style to see classic racing cars on the track; vintage shopping; and air displays complete with comedy air force moustaches.

Highlight of the day, however, was catching sight of Buzz Aldrin (it wasn't hard, there was a horde following him). I would say he looks good for his age, but he actually looks rather, erm, plastic for his age. Still, the man has been to the moon, I'm not about to begrudge him the odd nip and a tuck. Within the horde was also James May (of Top Gear 'fame') who looked as bedraggled and cantankerous as you would imagine (he appeared to be judging the entries in the static aircraft display). Buzz probably should have made the blip-pic above, but given the day was really given over to retro-racing it only seemed right for that to make the gallery.

A cracking day all told - rounded off with a drive over to the dead-end town of Dover where we're staying before heading to the ferry for France and another long(ish) drive south to the Loire.

There's a massive set of photos here, but a few of my own faves (apart from the links above) were:

Cliff Richard
Dance Your Cares Away
