Team New York Pizza
Kevin and I joined team New York Pizza to play in a weekend skins tournament. We made up an "all Canadian" team. Reg, our skip, has been living in the Netherlands for over 20 years, but is originally from Manitoba. Andrew, the vice, is originally from New Brunswick and has been in the country for about 4 years.
In this photo, Kevin is holding our winnings - after settling our bar tab! The bonspiel was a lot of fun with teams from the Netherlands, Belgium and Spain. Thanks for inviting us to play with you, Reg and Andrew.
In between games today, I was in contact with my daughter in Ontario. A very destructive ice storm hit southern Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada on Saturday night. With ice accumulation of 10 to 30 centimetres, many tree limbs and power lines were downed. A great deal of clean up work is required and many people will be without power for Christmas. The storm is continuing to cause damage as it works its way to the east coast.
My daughter didn't sleep very well during the storm as her house was very vulnerable on her well-treed property. Unfortunately about 4:30 am a tree branch from a falling limb punctured the roof over her kitchen and went right through the ceiling. Fortunately no one was hurt. I will feel better when the downed power lines on her property are fixed.
My thoughts are with friends and family in Ontario and the eastern provinces.
