#5 'The Coincidentalist' by Howe Gelb

You've gotta love any album that opens with the words "welcome to the desert...!" Giant sand frontman Howe Gelb strikes up his "shabby cabaret" (cheers to The Independent for that one) in a slightly down-at-(boot)heel roadhouse in the Four Corners. There's slow blues, homespun philosophy, a bit of barroom jazz piano... Hell, there's even a few special guests, if Will Oldham can just get through his guest vocal without laughing... In places it's even better than his 'Sno' Angel Like You' album if such a thing were possible...
