Tadpoles

Just tadpoles on telegraph lines. That's all musical notation is to me. I've tried to learn it without success. Some of the best guitarists I know can't read music and I just can't make any sense of it.

My wife says it's all about maths. Now, I can understand maths, up to and including differentiation and integration. I even got a handle on the application of "i" the square root of negative one for a while, although that was a strange one, but I simply can't understand these five lines and four spaces. Then there's the names. Minims and crotchets. Honestly, I ask you"Whit's that a' aboot?".

Nah, I remain a three (or four on a good day) chord wonder on the guitar and I can just manage the recorder - the tape recorder, that is, but writing down or reading music will always be beyond my ken.
