WHAT DO YOU DO

on the sunniest day? Drink coffee outside, no, first give the birds their share of food they like, go inside now and then, place the Nativity on a bed of fir-tree branches, no, first put the cithare music played by Anton Karas on the record player, and let the rhythm decide if you dance or collect the baubles and hang some in the tree, that still looks like a monster.
Then sit outside again, this day must be enjoyed, tomorrow it will rain, some say.
I put all the red birds that otherwise hang in the tree, in the branches around the Christmas pair. Find a light string so that for the very first time the Nativity can be enlighted all the time.
Sometimes the rhythm of the music is so fast I just sit and smile.
A big surprise when we find out that the string of 200 lamps gives no light at all. No remembrance that the string was broken when I did put it away.
Then a hightlight, Mischa phones us, tomorrow she will join us and does she have to bring something special?
The day moves on and it gets dark again. I still like the music. Have to think of my parents who enjoyed viennese music a lot.
We have enjoyed the Christmas concert yesterday, we came early and had a seat luckily. Two choirs sang alternatively and the Kurkapelle (heard for the first time of their existence) played with gusto. A great moment to come into the mood for the festivities.

My haiku:

In the boxes where
The baubles rest I found some
Dead flower chafer

And the proverb:

To make ducks and drakes of (or with).

Meaning: To throw away idly or carelessly.

Ca. 1600. Timon v.v. I will make duckes and drakes with this my gold.... Before your fingers touch a piece thereof.

My picture shows some travellers joy flowers.
