Battery swans

We were watching a programme on TV a week or so ago about growing and rearing your own produce for Christmas dinner. On it, was a man justifying battery turkeys. He commented that if we didn't rear turkeys in the manner we do, most people wouldn't be able to afford to have them for Christmas dinner. In fact, it used to be only the king that could afford to have turkey at Christmas.

Given, on the whole, only the queen can eat swans, in 200 years time, might it be acceptable to have battery swans?

Or are they too beautiful?

I am not vegetarian but I do think we humans have some strange values, opinions and justification about what we do.

We've been visiting Rich's family in Newport Pagnell this weekend although this view gave me the feeling I was in Finland not at Junction 14 of the M1!
