Through the rusty window

We went to Kew Gardens today and visited the Palm House. This is not a pretty Kew blip. It shows the parterre and the lower roof of the Palm House through the rusty window frame and damp, steamed up glass.

About 3 weeks ago we went to an interesting talk at Kew about the restoration of the Temperate House which is going to take 5 years. The talk explained how the plants are being looked after. Some have to stay in situ while the work is done and be protected from the weather and the old lead paint that us being removed from the structure. Some will be moved elsewhere, or propagated, or discarded entirely.
