Cruising down the Bosphorus
Lazy day today - we went for a ride on the Bosphorus Excursion Ferry, a trip that takes you about 25km each way through the sprawl of the Istanbul suburbs, past castles, ruins, boutique hotels, mosques, bridges, middle class suburbs and smaller fishing villages. It is probably the best way to appreciate the size of Istanbul, of which we've seen only small parts. Of course, there is also the novelty of jumping between Europe and Asia as the boat makes its stops on either bank. There is also a stop at the end of the line to allow time for a leisurely lunch before coming back the same way. Seafood lunch, delicious but comically overpriced.
Last night all together tonight - tomorrow J flies back home as he has to go back to work and, on Friday, B and I fly to Kenya. Sad to see the end of this part of the holiday - J and I have had a brilliant time. Feel so much more human, and it has been lovely to have some time together. I am quite excited about getting back to Kenya though.
Off for dinner and a drink...
