Hobbits!!!!

After exploring Papamou Beach, we headed off to Hobbiton. This is the actual film set used in The Lord of the Rings trilogy and the hobbit films. You are ferried by bus to the film set in the countryside and are shown around by a guide. There are lots of hobbit holes! The tour ends with a stop at the green dragon and a swift half do something of your choosing (cider for me and stout for rich). We were feeling a little peckish so decided to have a snack. They were definitely hobbit portions as the cheese scone was practically the size of my head... Ok, a small child's head. I managed half then had to admit defeat.

Once we were hobbited out, we headed off to our next campsite. This was in Waiteti near Rotorua. The site is next to a trout stream. We borrowed a couple of kayaks and went for a paddle. Later in the evening, rich tried to catch us some dinner but the fish weren't playing so it was a random supper of uncle bens microwave rice and marinated tofu instead. Honestly, it wasn't all that bad...
