Three at once

I spontaneously woke early enough to be able to see the sun rise for the summer solstice which occurred at 1711 GMT (or whatever it is now called). That is 0611 in New Zealand. However, to see the rising sun the sky needs to be relatively cloudless, rather than overcast, with showers of rain. So there went the planned blip for the day.

I did get a very nice photo of a spur winged plover when I went to get the Sunday paper. Thought it was good enough to blip. However, in the late morning I took the two Auckland based grandsons (staying with us at the beach house along with their mother) down to the beach for a frolic in the water and on the sand.

Young L is a boy, and throwing stones is part of the genetic material. Here is the result of picking up three and throwing them together into the deeper water. Mr H is also a boy, and using packed sand on his arm to give the impression of being turned into a zombie was his contribution. My photograph of the two apparently zombified lads also appealed; just not enough.

The afternoon has been gloriously sunny and warm, and I am posting this now, before heading out to plant a few additions to the garden as it starts to get a bit cooler.
