Solstice walk
Something about the dark symmetry of this photo - the central horizon, the opposing hills - seems suited to the day when as I see it the earth turns back towards the light. Sheer unscientific nonsense of course, but the dark of this time of year on the western fringes of Europe has a powerful effect on the imagination.
There was some brightness today, but not at a time when I was able to go out; as usual, we were reduced to walking in the gloaming. But there are brave lights in these houses, and the storm-torn forests above Glen Massan were still for a while as the wind dropped in the lull between two Atlantic depressions.
Tomorrow there will be something different to blip - there's a full day ahead.
