What happened in 1951?

Found this textile at a second hand shop some weeks ago. I look through the main big event that year and found both bad and good things.

This year was the birth of UNIVAC I, which obviously had an overdrive function. Our hands free are probably more equipted today than the UNIVAC was then.

Another event was the premiere of An American in Paris, a nice "retro" Movie starring Gene Kelly.
