Sheltering from the rain: Wareham Town Band

Vile weather again.

The band is performing under the covered entrance to Rempstone Centre in Wareham, just off South Street. Despite appearances to the contrary, the band has a membership sufficiently large that a dozen or so players can normally be mustered. (I am shooting between the shoulders of two other band members.)

The members of the band are volunteers; they can be hired for local fetes and other events, they play at the annual Wareham Carnival and on other significant dates such as Remembrance Sunday. Today the band is playing Christmas carols.

Lighting conditions:

The light levels were low enough outside the entrance, and this photo (hand held) was shot at ISO4000. It is situations like this that shooting in RAW can make a big difference.

Flash could have been used, but unless you have sophisticated flash equipment it produces a flattening effect. Fill-in flash might have worked, but the camera coped well without. If the faces of these players look a little grainy/noisy, this is because they were brightened slightly during editing.
