Maid in Wales

Fond Memories.

I was in the gym at 7. 30 this morning and while i was working out, i could see St Illtyd's church with the cross light up on the the tower. I thought it would have made a great blip, but when i came out the sun had come up. I went into town and yesterdays buskers were just setting themselves up for the day. It must have been profitable yesterday. The were playing Ravel's, Bolero. I walked up the street and went into a drapers shop just for a quick browse, and two of the female assistants were trying on some Christmas masks and showing them to a third assistant. I asked if i could take a photo and they wanted to know what it was for. When i explained the older woman said, I don't want my picture on the internet and then the younger one said, actually , neither do i. I felt quite hurt, and thought well actually it's no great loss with attitudes like that. I walked a bit further up the road and decided to take a picture of this monument which i didn't need permission to take.
During 1826 management of the Dunraven Estate was taken on by John Randall from Salisbury, Wiltshire.
Due to the professionalism and foresighted supervision, the Estate was to prosper for the benefit of the landlord and many tenants alike for 33 years.
Upon his death in 1859, Caroline, the Countess of Dunraven -for so long a friend and admirer of his loyal work in the area-commissioned the design- siting of this magnificent drinking fountain in his memory- forever to be known as the RANDALL MEMORIAL.
