Colors in the night
We've completed mooring line no.10 and after that was done the ROV came back on deck. As you can see, a ROV system consists of two main parts, the cage where the ROV is sitting in and the ROV itself (the yellow robot). When the cage came on deck we knew that the ROV technicians needed a 12 hr repair period to change out the tether or umbilical. It is the powercable between the cage and the ROV. With this new tether, the ROV can swim 600 meters out of his cage and that is awful far away.
Again; in this sport of technics, there are no No's accepted. Here you can see the Oceaneering guys busy with reeling the new tether.
