Nativity Scene
Just a wee shot for our work Facebook Christmas greeting, otherwise the camera wasn't out. This lovely nativity scene was made by someone trained at McKean rehabilitation centre in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Formerly a leprosy hospital and colony, it now works with people with a wide variety of disabilities, treating, supporting, training and empowering them to support themselves. The Leprosy Mission Scotland gets regular deliveries of wonderful things made by patients and former patients - elephant bags and purses, wooden carvings, silk scarves, greetings cards, wonderful metal goods like bookmarks, and all sorts of beautiful things. They sell their goods locally as well as through overseas sellers - wee places like TLMS, or the Created catalogue, which is on a somewhat larger scale, and I am sure in many other places too. I very much hope to visit next year, as I get the joy of a trip to Chiang Mai for meetings in March, can't wait!
