Weingeist

It's Christmas (as if you didn't know) and in the spirit of all things merry, we're trying a couple of new recipes for homemade liqueurs this year. One called for 'Weingeist' - you need to buy it from the Apotheke (chemist) - it's 90% vol - ethanol in other words....best make sure it's well diluted....eek!

Mr. Apotheke wanted to know why I wanted it....and how strong - then proceeded to tell me it's now not as cheap as it was as you have to pay the 'weinbrandsteuer' on it - still it wasn't too bad - though he was surprised at my willingness to pay.

Will keep you posted on how we go - but lots of fun to be had tasting over the next few days! Hic!
