Wet and dejected
This morning we traveled the 50 miles west to our Dartmoor base to restock food and check all is OK and stay for the weekend. Although the morning was fine, by the time we reached here and had lunch it was starting to rain but we ventured up onto the moor and to the Challacombe Valley, our favorite spot. There was high winds driving the rain around Hookney Tor so we wended our way down the valley and took Jinxy into Soussons plantation where there were plenty of deer prints and lot of smells for the boy.
As we drove back we could not see any animals anywhere until we came off the moor and found a small group of six or seven ponies grazing beside the road with his fellow standing in the gateway looking wet and dejected watching some horses in a field. There are grids across all roads leading off the moor so I don't know how they reached this far but I have seen ponies in the same place before.
Storms foretasted for tonight but we have the fire stoked up and a glass of single malt to hand and a good book. He looks good in LARGE
