Album Of The Year 2013 -Washed Out

Not really.

It is good though - reminds me of Magnet/Cocteau Twins/Maps all dripping in reverb and the cathedral of sound which is often used to describe Robin Guthrie's guitar work.

Don't get it on mp3 as it is a continuous play format - 9 tracks that run into each other, so 1/20th second cuts between tracks ruin the flow.

My favourite album of 2013 is probably still Public Service Broadcasting's album although even that is not much progress from Big Audio Dynamite's ideas.

Most disappointing is Frightened Rabbit's latest Pedestrian Verses. It's okay-ish but has some cringeworthy lyrics ("So hoe-lee"). Not getting much air-play here.

Best late discovery is Ane Brun particularly her solo stripped down recordings.

So nothing really new for 2013.

Hopefully 2014 will bring a real album from Ballboy and gets off to a great start with the new Mogwai album in January.
