A River Runs Through It
Our old home village of Geddington is divided north and south by the mighty River Ise.
As you can see it flows majestically through the meadows in the middle of the village.
As a spotty youth I would cycle from my home town of Rothwell, about 5 miles away, to watch the annual Easter tug of war.
Teams of 12 would be selected from the strongest men from each side of the river and they would try to pull each other into the water. Best of 3 won the trophy.
It was all stopped some years ago on the grounds of health & safety and traffic issues. Enough said.
