Can't be saved

Last week a friend and I went shopping and I saw these little pots with the plant reduced down to just 50p. There were two left one very healthy and this one. I picked them both up and took them to the till. My friend asked why when I onoly needed one and I replied that I couldn't leave this poorly one alone as no-one would buy it because it was unlikely to survive. I have apparently been like this since a child, always buying the chipped ornament or damaged toy because no-one else would want it.
Well for just over a week I have watered and cared for this, talking to it too, but today I had to admit that it was not going to survive. The whole stalk is now rotten and the plant drooping. Poor thing can't be saved. The pots nice though.
