If I look cute they won't notice

Last week we moved the bird feeder and the squirrel was repulsed. Not so today, it might be a different animal, (who can tell), but it made it onto the feeder. It looks cute and harmless, does a spectacular leap from said position and achieves its goal. We kept opening the door and scaring it away, but back it came. Nothing for it but action; the squirrel guard is now right under the feeder tray. Will it work?
