House Finch

My grandsons come on Friday and will help me fill the birdfeeders. I think this red bird is either a Cassin Finch or a House Finch - bright red on crown, breast, and rump.
They descended from cage birds released near New York City in the 1940s. Their musical song and bright color adds a cheerful holiday touch.
