Uglier

I didn't think anything could be less attractive than these guys - until my letter-box starling family hatched this morning.

Well I'm assuming it was this morning. I hadn't checked on them since I photographed their eggs last week because I don't like to disturb them too much. This morning as I was heading for work I had the feeling that I should check, and there they were. Clearly just hatched, still slightly wet and necks so wobbly they could barely hold them up.

There are only two hatched and one egg still remaining - it will be interesting to see if it hatches too. But for the meantime I'll leave them alone and let their parents raise them without me checking on them constantly.
