Fallen
This is the remains of the tree that fell into the River Echaig beside Benmore Gardens a fortnight ago - another windy night rather like the one we're having again now - and took the road with it. Today we were able to walk along the newly-repaired road and see the size of the tree, which has fallen right to the other bank, and the roots which have dragged up part of a ceramic road drainpipe tangled among them.
We go to such lengths to tame our world, make it fit our convenience - but it's sobering how quickly it can all be reduced to wilderness again when the wind blows.
