Hemlocks

I am a tree-hugger, I'm proud to admit. Hemlocks in the wild, as opposed to use as a formal landscaping feature, are so beautiful, particularly in the snow. There is a wildness to them that harkens back to when this land was in the hands of humans who were far more respectful to it than many modern day inhabitants. This picture was taken in Sewickley Heights Park almost as the sun was going down; there was a waning yellow sky to the west.
