almost

It was the Les Pilles marché de Noel today. Pierre and I had a quick dander around it, chatted to a few locals, and then drove to Avignon to try and relive the magic of last year's first meeting at the Christmas market there :)

Firstly, we got a bit lost on the way....secondly, we couldn't get parked for love nor money....thirdly, we were starving and couldn't find anything decent to eat. We were hoping for classic Christmas market stuff; you know, baked spuds, German sausage, reindeer burgers, that sort of thing ;) Ended up going to a wee snack bar place and getting re-heated pizza!! Ah well, it filled a hole and meant we were full and ready to face the throng. We did like last year and got a mulled wine and a glass of champagne and then went and sat on the steps. Bought a few Christmas presents and visited the massive creche de Noel they have in the mairie, and gazed in awe at the Palais des Papes. My blip today was going to be that very building, but this pic just pipped it to the post.

Hopefully, if this turns into a yearly occurrence, we'll get ourselves there a bit earlier next time :)
