Spoons
Woke up 6-ish to get myself ready for one long-ass trip. Said bye to Eve before heading off to the station. Had some tea and breakfast there since I couldn't be fucked making it in the house.
Train delayed by 10 minutes, not a big deal but annoying nonetheless.
Arrived in Birmingham International to send off my luggage, apparently flight delayed by 1h30. Asked the ticketing office if I will make it for my connection flight and was assured that I will (changeover time was 3-4 hours afterall). Spent the time walking around the duty free shops because I had nothing better to do until the gate opened.
Made it to Istanbul eventually, and found out my other flight is also delayed by 1h30! Apparently, snow storms are happening in Istanbul causing all the delays with Turkish Airlines (they even had people from the local news stations film the area where people are looking at the flight information screens). Had a burger and beer (apparently they come in small, medium and large. I chose large which turned out to be 0.7 litres!). Gates eventually opened, and I made it. There was some serious air turbulence, but I made it fine (despite the stupid kid kicking my seat from behind!); I even made some notes for one of my essays during the flight.
Arrived Sana'a (it's Thursday morning now, but I'll keep on going here). Waited for the luggage only to find out it hasn't been forwarded from Istanbul amidst all the delays. Super annoyed (and worried) as I pretty much checked every single camera equipment I had save for the 70D and the 50mm that I had on me! Eventually just took my other flight to Hodeidah 7am and arrived half an hour later.
I've done this a dozen times already and it still is tiring and exhausting everytime I do it.
