Home and hearth
heating is the buzzword in greece at the moment - few are those houses where heating is applied in every room because it's basically become unaffordable; for most greeks, there is a return to home and hearth - one room is heated and everyone uses that room when they are at home, until bedtime, when we stay warm under the covers
this is where my family spends our time every night: the living room, where we've placed the wood-fire heater - it's not the biggest room, but we've created just enough space for each one of us so that we don't end up treading over each other as we go about on our daily business
even the christmas tree has been accounted for - it's in a corner, next to the two-seater sofa on the right hand side, but my panoramic sweep did not manage to capture it; i'm sitting on the three-seater next to the french window with a coffee table in front of me, so we can all read, write, compute, watch tv or just sit back and enjoy the warmth and movements of the flames dancing behind the glass door of the heater
