I can see clearly now...

I have ditched the glasses, they were such a pain.

I had been contemplating have laser surgery on my eyes, went for a consultation to be told Lasik was not suitable for me, and I would be wasting my money, nearly 5000€ on having lenses implanted. So, I thought about contact lenses, the only problem is I need glasses both for driving and reading, so I have had variafocal lenses in my glasses for years. I went to the local optician, explained my problem and he said 'no problem, wear a long distance lense in one eye and a short distance lense in the other'. He ordered me some sample lenses, I put them in, and what a difference, tomorrow I go back to see him and he will do a full eye test and if everything is okay, he will order me the new lenses and I can ditch the glasses.

Interestingly, for years I have gone to Specsavers, and I asked them the question a couple of years ago about wearing two different prescriptions of contacts, to be told 'No, it's not possible'. I won't be going back to them, I will now stick to my local independent optician, I would rather give him my money, and I can practice my Spanish as well.
