Maggie

Hair day today, courtesy of a Groupon deal (Hray!), so I braved a new hairdresser - always a gamble.

This lady is Maggie (full name Marguerite), who came here from Bulgaria with a chemistry degree but she couldn't get any suitable work. So after doing her time on fruit farms etc. she started her own hairdressing business two years ago.

Working 6 days a week with no lunch most days, she brought out my maternal, protective side :) She's totally warm and lovely and just trying to make a living in increasingly hard times. Hence the Groupon offer, to attract new customers in to the shop.

I empathise completely so I'll consider going back, even though she cut my fringe all squinty.... :)

P.S. Annoyed at myself because I plucked up the courage to ask for her photo and she agreed, but then in the flurry of coat and bag collecting etc. I forgot to before I left the shop. Old age doesn't come itself.....
